Wind Advisory
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service located in Peachtree City, Georgia.
The wind advisory was announced at 1:45 p.m.February 24, 2010 and will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday for North Georgia.
A major cold front is moving quickly into and through the Metro Atlanta and North Georgia area, bringing powerful winds. Extremely gusty winds up to 35 mph or stronger along with sustained winds of 15-25 mph will develop behind the moving cold front. The northerly winds will continue through Thursday morning diminishing Thursday afternoon for most of the North and Central Georgia regions.
Necessary precautions should be implemented. The sustained and gusty winds can put power lines and trees in danger of falling. Driving may be difficult as strong winds could topple tall vehicles, it’s advised to use extreme caution.
