Top Five Atlanta Venues

Whether you’re visiting Atlanta for the first time or have lived here all your life, finding some of the best venues in one of the most historic and exciting cities is no easy task. But from all these places, Atlanta GA Today has pulled together the top five Atlanta venues which provide the most entertainment, convenience, and attractions you can expect to find anywhere.

Atlanta Fox TheatreFox Theatre: This historic venue located in the middle of Atlanta on Peachtree Street seats almost 4,700 and features over 300 performances a year. With the entertainment ranging from movies to comedy shows, rock concerts and Broadway events, the Fox Theatre is well known for hosting the best and brightest of today’s stars.

Even Billboard magazine recognized us back in December of 2009 with the Fox being, “The Number One non-residency venue worldwide for the decade.” for a venue of 5,000 seats or less. The Fox Theatre also sports several ballrooms and other facilities that host a wide range of events from weddings to corporate meetings.

Philips Arena: Home of the fabled NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, Philips Arena presents far more than basketball, they offer a wide variety of events for the young and the young at heart. Located next to the CNN center, near the intersection of Marietta and Centennial Olympic Park Drive, this arena hosts the WNBA Atlanta Dream, concerts, and special events for one and all.

The arena also hosts “The Philips Experience”, a 10,000 square foot area showcasing different hands on activities for visitors from “Ready. Set. Shoot” which allows Hawks fans to practice their basketball skills in a unique, interactive environment to “Interactive Alley” which boasts six stations with access to eight websites offering to view them on a large screen.

Georgia DomeGeorgia Dome: Home of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, the Georgia Dome has proudly hosted two Super Bowls, the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament, and many of the events from the 1996 Summer Olympics. This is the largest cable-supported dome structure in the world with seating for almost 72,000 fans. But the Georgia Dome offers far more than just sporting events, located next to the Dome on a 21 acre site is Centennial Olympic Park and the Georgia World Congress Center, making these three facilities one of the largest sports, convention and entertainment centers on the planet today. The Dome itself has hosted rock bands like The Rolling Stones and U2, as well as large events featuring ministers like Billy Graham.

Gwinnett Arena: Capable of holding 13,000 spectators, the Gwinnett Arena can handle many of the larger events in the Atlanta area, including concerts, conventions, and sports events like the Atlanta’s own Arena Football team, the Georgia Force. The Gwinnett Arena sports a state of the art system to customize seating capacity to the event requirements, to maximize the visual and auditory enjoyment of the spectators.

Chastain Park Amphitheatre: The amphitheatre is a historic landmark in the city of Atlanta, celebrating over 65 years of making memories. Home to the famed Chastain Classic Summer Series, the Chastain Park venue has been the site of many famous live performances and recordings. Located just off Powers Ferry Road and the Chastain Memorial Parkway, this amphitheatre features easy access, plenty of parking, and a wide range of musical events the entire family can enjoy.
