Week­end Get­aways to and from Atlanta are a great way to find new vaca­tion deals and travel on the cheap. Atlanta is con­sid­ered the trans­porta­tion and travel hub of the South­east. There­fore, there are many places to get away for two, three and four day week­end trips.

Atlanta, Geor­gia is also for­tu­nate to be in close prox­im­ity to the Blue Ridge Moun­tains and the Great Smoky Moun­tains. In the North Geor­gia Moun­tains, week­end get­aways include Helen, Blairsville and Hiawasee. Travel a lit­tle bit fur­ther north and west to find vaca­tion spots like Pigeon Forge and Gatlin­burg which are nes­tled in the Great Smoky Moun­tains. Pop­u­lar moun­tain des­ti­na­tions in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Moun­tains fea­ture Boone, Ban­ner Elk, and Blow­ing Rock.

Many out­door activ­i­ties are just an hour or two drive from Atlanta. From hik­ing and back­pack­ing the Appalachian Trail, white­wa­ter raft­ing down the Chat­tooga River, or fish­ing the many pris­tine lakes… it’s all right here in Georgia.
