The Virginia Highland Summerfest is an annual neighborhood festival in Atlanta, Ga. Visitors stroll down the charming and historic Virginia-Highland neighborhood and enjoy live entertainment, great foods, and a wonderful artist’s market.
The annual Virgina-Highland Summerfest is one of Atlanta Ga Today’s favorite neighborhood festivals. It is a FREE festival being held June 2 & 3 on Virginia Ave. between N. Highland Ave. and Park Dr. Summerfest is a nonprofit event with proceeds donated to neighborhood projects, park improvements, landscaping, public libraries and more.

Friday, June 1st
Events for Residents Only
Special events for the community feature a neighborhood parade followed by a dinner and a movie. Register for the parade 6:30 p.m. at the Ace Intown Hardware store (corner of Drewry Rd. and N. Highland Rd.). Parade will begin at 7 p.m. to be followed up by dinner and an outdoor movie.
This year the theme for the Summerfest Parade is the “Wild Animal Safari”. Participants can dress like their favorite wild animal or safari related costume and perform while walking in the parade. The dinner after the parade is at the Inman Middle School field.
The dinner will be provided by Atkins Park Restaurant. You must bring ID to verify residency in Va-Hi.
Movie: The movie will be “Hugo” and will begin at dusk (approximately 8:45pm).
Acoustic Street Party: The acoustic music will be located at the Virginia-Highland Island on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 8:00pm to 11:00pm and on Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9:00pm to 11:00 p.m.

Saturday June 2nd
5k Race and Tot Trot
5K: The Summerfest 5K takes place on Saturday, June 2, 2012, and features 1,000 runners winding through the neighborhood streets of Virginia-Highland. Registration for the 5K must be made in advance. See www.active.com to register with a credit card or running4fitness.com for details. There is no race-day registration.
Tot Trot: Following the 5K Race and starting at 9:00am Saturday, children aged 5 and under run, waddle or crawl to the finish line of the Tot Trot held in the Inman Middle School field at Greencove & Virginia. Every child receives a blue ribbon and a t-shirt for participating. Registration ($10 per child) at www.active.com, or on-site, day of race.
Race Packet Pick-Up: Pre-registered 5K runners and tot trot need to pick up their packets on May 25, 26, 29, and 30 at Phidippides, Ansley Mall – or – Friday, June 1 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at Virginia Highland Church (743 Virginia Avenue across from Inman Middle School).
Kidsfest
Kidsfest is located near Arcadia at the edge of John Howell Park. This year’s theme is “Wild Animal Safari”. Kidsfest features unique games, crafts, music and activities for children of all ages, and most are free. Times are Saturday, June 2, 2012 (10am to 3pm) and Sunday, June 3, 2012 (Noon to 3pm).

Artist Market
The artist market is a juried event featuring original artwork of more than 220 artists from all over the southeast.
Summerfest Artist Market - you will find artists specializing in painting, sculpture, jewelry, textiles/fiber arts, photography, clay, wood, metal, graphics and mixed media.
Enjoy browsing the artist booths located along tree-lined Virginia Avenue, which runs beside John Howell Park and residential homes.
The Artist Market strives to offer a large variety of work representing numerous price ranges to appeal to the many visitors.
