The Festival on Ponce is an outdoor arts and crafts festival in the chain of parks located on Ponce de Leon Ave in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood. Visitors will enjoy fine art and crafts, folk and outsider art, a children’s area and local foods and beverages. This is the first time ever for this Atlanta Event which may quickly become the largest annual event in the historic Druid Hills community.
The Olmsted Linear Park Alliance has raised millions of dollars to renovate and maintain the parks. The chain of parks was designed in 1890 by legendary landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Central Park and Prospect Park in New York City. The inaugural “Festival on Ponce” will be the first art show since 1930 in the setting of these unique parks.
This is the first year to hold an outdoor arts and crafts festival in the chain of parks on Ponce de Leon Ave in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood. Approximately 100 (mostly) local artists and crafters will enjoy the unique beauty of Frederick Olmsted’s vision. Festival on Ponce will be a very conservative event, with a sensitivity to the park and neighborhood.
Emerging artists from all over Atlanta and the South are encouraged to participate. Visitors can appreciate the extensive renovations and maintenance accomplished by the Olmsted Linear Park Alliance (http://www.atlantaolmstedpark.org/). The parks on Ponce are just down the street from the Fernbank Museum of Natural History (at Boulevard and Ponce de Leon).
Visitors can stroll the fine arts and crafts, folk and “outsider” art, a children’s area and local food and beverage concessions. This event is organized by the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces and volunteer artists to benefit the local community.
