Tips For Staycations
Tips for “Staycations”
By Priority Club Connect Guest Writer, Amanda Kehoe
Most of us get caught up in our day-to-day work & family lives that we forget how easy it is plan a leisure trip in our own city. Since the economy has affected so many of us, leisure travel is often put on the back burner.
Booking weekend nights in your local, favorite hotel is an affordable way to enjoy a mini vacation. Time away from the kids, sleeping in (without having to clean up after yourself), and enjoying breakfast on the weekend is priceless. Quick, nearby day trips, attending local festivals and visiting area attractions can now become part of an affordable “staycation”.
It has never been easier to hop in the car and plan a “Staycation.”
Tips to becoming a tourist of your own town/state:
1) Remember to remind the hotel that you are staying for leisure. The
hotel might just make your stay a little more memorable.
2) Weekend rates at hotels are usually lower and are easily negotiable due
to lower occupancy.
3) Check out a travel guide book from the library about your city or a
nearby destination.
4) Food lovers should ask other locals for a new spot to try
5) Get out on foot and explore what is around the hotel.
6) Inquire beforehand about any weekend festivals or fairs.
7) Stay off the Blackberry! You’re on a “staycation!”
Keep reminding yourself that you did not have to wait an hour in the
security line at the airport.
Enjoy a leisure “staycation” and smile when you return to work on a Monday
morning to hear your coworkers ask, “Why are you looking so refreshed?”
