Fernbank Hosts Second Annual Pirate Weekend
Running Event: ZOOMA, Atlanta Half Marathon and 5K – Women’s race runs through the beautiful fall scenery in Braselton, Georgia. The race starts at the Chateau Elan vineyard resort located about 40 miles NE of Atlanta and hosts a post-race party. Start time for the race is 7:30 a.m. and is followed up with a post-race party. Atlanta Parade: Atlanta Veterans Day Parade – 29th Annual Veterans Day Parade starts at 11:00 a.m. on West Peachtree St. near Pine St. and travels down Marietta St. towards Centennial Olympic Park. The Parade honors those who served, are currently serving, died, and are still missing in action. This year’s 2010 Parade Grand Marshal is R. Lee Ermey TV Actor and Movie Star. Kids Activity: Grand Opening of Atlanta’s Newest Ice Rink – The Rink at Park Tavern officially opens in the heart of Midtown Atlanta at Piedmont Park. Atlanta Activities: Atlanta Half-Marathon and Thanksgiving Day 5K - the Atlanta Half Marathon is 13.1 miles long, has a new coarse and is one of the largest Half Marathons in the Nation! The 2010 Atlanta Half Marathon starts and finishes at Turner Field Stadium and travels through Atlantic Station, Midtown Atlanta, Cabbage Town and Downtown Atlanta. Participants in the race will pass by many Atlanta landmarks including the Georgia State Capitol, Centennial Olympic Park, Piedmont Park and Ebenezer Baptist Church.
