Top things to do in Atlanta for the month of December include lots of holiday lights, festivals and events. Holiday festivals include Holidays in Atlantic Station and Holidays in Lights. Children's Christmas ParadeAtlanta Parade: Children’s Christmas Parade 2010, the Southeast’s largest holiday parade attracts over 300,000 people. This is a wonderful way for kids and the family to start their holiday season. The parade starts in Downtown Atlanta at Peachtree St. near Baker St. The parade is sponsored by Childern’s Healthcare of Atlanta and runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Make sure to get there early to get a good spot or you can purchase bleacher seats for $12. The Atlanta Christmas Parade features holiday floats, marching bands, giant balloons and Santa Claus. Holiday Events: Holidays at the Georgia Aquarium, celebrate the holidays with mermaids and Santa. Live performances feature the Weeki Wachee Mermaids and Santa Scuba Claus.

The Wiki Wachee Mermaids hail from Florida’s Weeki Wachee Springs State Park where they have been performing for 63 years. Get pictures with Santa before he plunges into the depths of Tropical Diver. In addition the “Fin-tastic 5th Birthday” celebrates the fifth year anniversary of the Georgia Aquarium with live music shows. Holiday Activity: Gingerbread Decorations & Libations, build and decorate your very own Gingerbread House to take home. Tickets are $25 per couple and include 2 drink tickets, refreshments and all the supplies needed to construct and decorate a gingerbread house. Family Activity: Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival. Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends will be performing live right before your very eyes. The Disney Show features the greatest hits from blockbuster movies including Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story remixed to rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and country, among other jams. Friends include Donald and Goofy, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck. Two shows at 1:00 p.m. and 4 p.m., Philips Arena, Atlanta, Ga.
