Atlanta Marathon
The 2010 Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon race events are on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. The Atlanta Marathon is the oldest marathon in the Southeast and one of the oldest in the nation.
This year the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon event expects to attract over 11,000 participants from all over the country. The Marathon has become an Atlanta tradition during the holiday season for runners and volunteers.
The Atlanta Marathon is the only one of its kind in the U.S. since it is run run on an Olympic course. Sponsors for this years Atlanta Marathon include the Atlanta Track Club and The Weather Channel.
The Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometer Kids’ Fun Run is a great activity for kids to participate on Thanksgiving Day. The one mile run begins in the Blue Lot at Turner Field and ends at the same finish line as the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon. Children ages 7-12 will enjoy the cheering crowds and commemorative medals awarded to those who partake.

Race numbers and packets for runners are available for pick up at the race expo. It is located at at the InterContinental Hotel Buckhead 3315 Peachtree Road in Atlanta. Runners may also pick up a race number and packet for another runner. A copy of some form of identification for the absent runner and/or a note granting permission for the race number and packet to be picked up must be presented.
