Atlanta Marathon

Atlanta-MarathonThe 2010 Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon race events are on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. The Atlanta Marathon is the oldest marathon in the Southeast and one of the oldest in the nation.

This year the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon event expects to attract over 11,000 participants from all over the country. The Marathon has become an Atlanta tradition during the holiday season for runners and volunteers.

The Atlanta Marathon is the only one of its kind in the U.S. since it is run run on an Olympic course. Sponsors for this years Atlanta Marathon include the Atlanta Track Club and The Weather Channel.

The Atlanta Track Club’s Kilometer Kids’ Fun Run is a great activity for kids to participate on Thanksgiving Day. The one mile run begins in the Blue Lot at Turner Field and ends at the same finish line as the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon. Children ages 7–12 will enjoy the cheering crowds and commemorative medals awarded to those who partake.
