Luenell…Live!
07/09/2010 to 07/09/2010
Luenell…Live!: Arkansas native LUENELL (one of those rare one name stars) is coming to Atlanta by virtue of pure grit and determination to continue living out her dream. The single Mom rags-to-respectability story is hers alone to tell and she does so with no holds barred. Her notable appearances in feature films (Borat’s Hooker with a Heart of Gold), television (B.E.T.’s Comic View) and as a regular on videos and the comedy club circuit has her pegged as one of America’s funniest and fastest rising comediennes on the scene today. Her take no prisoners approach…bawdy, brash, cantankerous yet lovable “tell it like it is” brand of humor has audiences from all walks of life rolling in the aisles. With her deadpan, direct, get down, and at times, decidedly daring delivery of zingers about life and the human experience as she has lived it has reviewers and entertainment powers taking full notice. Alternately dubbed as a “comedy demolition machine” and a “sidesplitting high wired act without a net, urban and mainstream audiences alike are discovering Luenell’s comic genius, realizing that this “Bad Girl of Comedy” is a force to be reckoned with.

HOT PROPERTY
07/09/2010 to 07/17/2010
Fred Carmichael’s irresistible comedy “Hot Property” is fueled by laughs, mistaken identities and even a “sting”. It’s the story of a down-on-his-luck land developer and his late mother’s sensational, headed toward “best-selling” novel, which was stolen by a crafty con artist and published as his own. Is it woe to the land developer? What does a troop of deliciously endearing professional actors have to do with it? You’ll see!

The Nerd
03/05/2010 to 04/03/2010
One of the funniest plays ever written, this extraordinarily inventive, side-splitting comedy was first presented by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, then produced in Great Britain, then went on to Broadway. The action centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he’s never met but who saved his life in Vietnam—the visitor turning out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid “nerd” who outstays his welcome with a vengeance.
Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you”—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd”—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence—a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play.
Company: The Rosewater Theatre
Price: $17.12 – $19.26
