Emory Healthcare 500Atlanta is the place to be Labor Day Weekend 2010. Atlanta Ga Today has compiled the top events to send off your summer with a bang. There is plenty of Labor Day Weekend fun to go around in Atlanta including kids activities, outdoor recreation, fireworks, family festivals and the Dragon*Con Parade.

Racing enthusiasts can get their fill as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series gets underway at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Baseball fans can get an early start on Labor Day Weekend as the Atlanta Braves battle the New York Mets on Sept.2.

Those of you seeking outdoor recreation in Atlanta can attend the Labor Day Weekend Celebration at Stone Mountain Park. Folks have all three days to get in the American Spirit and enjoy free concerts and the Lasershow Spectacular. The U.S. 10k Classic is another outdoor activity featuring races, kids activities and a family festival.

Dragon*Con Parade
This Atlanta Parade is one of the zaniest events to take place this Labor Day Weekend. Dragon*Con bills itself as the largest multi-media, pop culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe! The Dragon*Con convention takes place Sept. 3-6 at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Atlanta. The main attraction is the Dragon*Con Parade that starts at Woodruff Park and travels along Peachtree Street on Sept 4, 10:00 a.m.

U.S. 10K Classic & Family Festival
The Family Festival and U.S. 10k Classic Run is held every year at the Galleria complex in Atlanta. This is part of a multi-event weekend filled with sports and entertainment. The Family Festival has something for everyone including live entertainment, big kids interactive area, vendor booths, apparel and fitness gear, and an artist market. The two day Family Festival runs Saturday through Sunday Sept. 5-6, hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kid’s Classic Races take place on Saturday while the challenging 6.2 mile Classic 10k Run starts on Monday. The The U.S. 10k Classic is the culminating event of the Labor Day Weekend Family Festival.

Emory Healthcare 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
The Emory Healthcare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway brings out the very best in stock car racing. NASCAR fans can enjoy an event filled weekend at the biggest Labor Day Party in Atlanta. There’s plenty of music for everyone including a Drivin’ N Cryin’ concert on Friday followed by a Foreigner concert on Sunday. The Emory Healthcare 500 Nascar Sprint Cup Series takes place Sunday Sept. 5, 7:30 p.m. under the lights.

Labor Day Weekend Celebration
Stone Mountain Park celebrates Labor Day for three days from Sept. 4-6. The Last Blast of Summer event starts off the weekend on Sept. 4. Four free concerts feature Eden’s Edge, Chris Janson, Jaron and the Long Road to Love and Jerrod Niemann. The park has laser shows and fireworks all three nights with extended fireworks displays on Sunday and Monday. Fireworks, the Lasershow and concerts are free with vehicle admission to Stone Mountain.
