Stone Mountain Park in Georgia is voted the number one for fun things to do in Atlanta and the best bet for family fun! Discover 3200 acres of raw beauty in Stone Mountain Park and its history along with its many rides and attractions.

Stone Mountain is open year round and is centered around the perimeter of the largest outcroppings and most incredible masses of granite in the world.

One of our favorite kids attractions is the new SkyHike where you can test your hiking skills on different levels from 12 to 40 feet above the ground. You can test your balance skills while crossing a single rope bridge high up while secured by an overhead safety system. Skyhike in Stone Mountain Park is one of the coolest and fun things to do with your kids in Atlanta!

Take a high speed cable car ride on Summit Skyride to the top of Stone Mountain. Here you will not only get a spetacular view of the Confederate Memorial Carving of Jefferson Davis, Thomas A. “Stonewall” Jackson and Robert E. Lee. It is the largest bas-relief carving in the world. Initially, upon reaching the summit, one gets the feeling their on another planet. On a clear day visitors can see Kennesaw Mountain, the Appalachian Mountains, and majestic views of Downtown and Midtown Atlanta.

Wonder at the 40 minute long Lasershow Spectacular– the world’s longest running lasershow. Without a doubt, the Stone Mountain Laser Show is one of the most entertaining attractions in all of Atlanta and a must for everyone. This musically choreographed state-of-the-art graphics showcase starts around dusk everynight during the summer on the “great lawn”. The show ends with an impressive fireworks finale.

Outdoor entusiasts can enjoy the largest campground in Georgia with fifteen miles of hiking trails, boating, fishing, bicycling and golf. If camping is your style, Stone Mountain Park Campground offers 441 wooded sites including 247 partial hook-ups(with water and electricity), 147 full hook-ups and 47 primitive tent sites .

Other family fun attractions include a five mile ride on the Scenic Railroad, the 1800’s town of Crossroads, and travel the Riverboat Cruise aboard the Scarlet O’Hara on Stone Mountain Lake. In the winter be sure to check out Stone Mountain’s newest and coolest creation “Snow Mountain”. Excitement, adventure, lots of activities and natural beauty for the entire family is why AtlantaGAToday states that Stone Mountain Park is the Number One Attraction in Georgia!
