They bring their brand new show, In Search of Tonto Blue, to 7 Stages from its world premiere. A follow up piece to their ever popular show American Safari, In Search of Tonto Blue is the story of a quiet, nondescript, middle aged Everyman, named Arthur A. Peterson, who believes his calling is to find fame and fortune by becoming a pop culture icon. Trying to find relevance in the midst of a mid-life crisis is captured in this metaphorical world punctuated with original music, puppetry and, the highly skilled muscular presence of the living artist.

Morning’s at Seven
05/07/2010 to 05/16/2010
Morning’s at Seven is the humorous, sometimes poignant, account of the intertwined lives of four sisters who live within walking distance of each other in a small town and who are constantly in each other’s business. Three retired husbands, a reluctant husband-to-be and his fiancée of twelve years, whom the family has yet to meet, complete the lovable and sometimes hilarious, cast of characters.
Esther, the oldest sister, and her husband, David, live “up the hill”, where he surrounds himself with books and disapproves of her family. The two middle sisters are Ida and her husband, Carl, who has “spells” of regret over a life unfulfilled, their son, Homer, and Cora and her husband Thor, logical and gentlemanly. Arry, the youngest, is unmarried, but has a secret about which there is much speculation.
Homer’s fiancée, Myrtle, whom he has finally brought home to meet the family, is the catalyst who stirs up emotions the sisters have spent their lives trying to keep under control.
The story takes place over just two days, laying bare a lifetime of affection and resentment among the sisters and stirring up currents of fear and joy leavened by humor and charm.

The Nerd
04/23/2010 to 05/22/2010
One of the funniest plays ever written, this extraordinarily inventive, side-splitting comedy was first presented by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, then produced in Great Britain, then went on to Broadway. The action centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he’s never met but who saved his life in Vietnam—the visitor turning out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid “nerd” who outstays his welcome with a vengeance.
Now an aspiring young architect in Terre Haute, Indiana, Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you”—so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his thirty-fourth birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd”—a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact. And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence—a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play.

When Sheena McKinney is cast in the slasher flick filming in her tiny Texas town, it might just be her big break. After all, she’s young and buxom, and her character is the last girl standing. You’ll never look at a power drill the same way again! This raucous comedy was an audience favorite at the 2009 Humana Festival of New American Plays.

Driving Miss Daisy
04/12/2010 to 05/23/2010
The place is the Deep South, the time 1948, just prior to the civil rights movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Wertham, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son, Boolie, that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke. Miss Daisy immediately regards him with disdain and he, in turn, is not impressed with his employer’s patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. But, in a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other.
Slowly and steadily the dignified, good-natured Hoke breaks down the stern defenses of the ornery old lady. By the end of the play, it is movingly clear that they have both come to realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible—and that times and circumstances would ever allow them to publicly admit.

Balletic influences such as pointed feet, turn out of the legs, high extension, and ethereal quality can be observed in Chinese ballets and Chinese dances of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
