Irish eyes will be smiling when the 2010 Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade marches down Peachtree St. Every year this traditional Atlanta Event seems to get bigger and better. The city has long ties to the Irish noting the first Atlanta St. Patrick’s Day Parade occurred over 150 years ago!
Thousands of Irish-loving people will line the streets when the parade begins at the intersection of Peachtree St. and Ralph McGill Blvd. in Downtown Atlanta. Entertainment along the parade route will feature Irish dancers, Bagpipers, floats, Drum Corps, thousands of children, and the Anheuser Busch Clydesdales. In addition there’s clowns, fire engines, vintage cars, police units, dignitaries from Ireland, dogs, and a multitude of bands.
One of the crowd pleaser’s at last years Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade was the GreenMan Group pictured below in the YouTube Video.
The Grand Marshal for the 2010 Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade will be Coach Vince Dooley.
Other participants in the parade include:

A work of craft titled “The Lost Heroes Art Quilt” is making it’s way to Atlanta this week. This special exhibit displays a generous gift that honors America’s fallen heroes in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Julie Feingold crafted the memorial quilt that combines over 80 heroes including a hero from every state in America. “The Lost Heroes Art Quilt” began its tour at Arlington National Cemetery Visitors Center after being shown at a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
This special exhibition makes its way to the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta, Ga., and runs from Monday February 22 through March 2, 2010. The national exhibit tells the stories of the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and includes photos, interests, and hopes.
The Lost Heroes Art Quilt features nine fallen heroes from Georgia, many with ties to Fort Benning.
