Stone_Mountain_Park_agtCon­certs, fire­works and laser shows add up to a fun Labor Day Week­end. Stone Moun­tain Park presents the Last Blast of Sum­mer cel­e­brat­ing Labor Day for three days in a row.

There no short­age of fam­ily activ­i­ties going on at Stone Moun­tain Park such as the Sky Hike which is billed as the nation’s largest adven­ture course, a fab­u­lous pub­lic golf course, or the scenic railroad.

On Sept. 5th, locals and tourists can enjoy The Last Blast of Sum­mer Con­cert fea­tur­ing some great coun­try music pro­vided by Eden’s Edge and Lana Turner.

Other Labor Day Week­end fes­tiv­i­ties at Stone Moun­tain include extended fire­works dis­plays, a new Jour­ney to the Cen­ter of the Earth 4D Movie, the Sum­mit Skyride, and of course the great­est laser show in the South!

The Adven­ture Pass allows you to enjoy all the attrac­tions at Stone Moun­tain Park for one low price. Adven­ture Pass tick­ets are $26 for adults and $21 chil­dren ages 3–11.

Labor Day Weekend Fun in Atlanta

What is there to do in Atlanta Labor Day Week­end? We’re glad you asked. Atlanta­Ga­To­day has put together a list of the best things to do that will keep you busy for the last big hol­i­day of the sum­mer sea­son. Sur­pris­ingly, there’s a lot of fun activ­i­ties and events for the fam­ily to enjoy this Labor Day Week­end in Atlanta, Georgia.

We have made a recent upgrade to this list to include Stone Moun­tain Park. They have a Labor Day Week­end Cel­e­bra­tion going on Sep­tem­ber 5–7 Sat­ur­day through Monday.

Stone Moun­tain Park brings back the Last Blast Of Sum­mer Con­cert on Sat­ur­day fea­tur­ing coun­try music and national record­ing stars Lana Turner and Eden’s Edge. There will also be extended fire­works shows all three nights after the Laser­show Spec­tac­u­lar. For more infor­ma­tion go to the events section.

PEPBOYS AUTO 500 AMS1) NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Atlanta Motor Speed­way
Gen­tle­man, start your engines! That’s right NASCAR rac­ing returns to Atlanta this Labor Day Week­end in a big way. For the first time ever the Pep Boys 500 will be held under the lights Sun­day night. Couch potatos can watch the NASCAR Race on ESPN, but you’ll be miss­ing out on all the fun.

There are two great events at Atlanta Motor Speed­way on Sat­ur­day. The first is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Qual­i­fy­ing. The fea­ture race after that is the Labor Day Week­end Degree V12 300.

2) Dragon*Con Parade in Down­town Atlanta Dragon-Con
This is one of the coolest if not bizarre events to be held this Labor Day Week­end in Atlanta. Dragon*Con spe­cial­izes in sci­ence fic­tion and fan­tasy and takes place
Sept. 4 — Sept. 7 at the Hyatt in Down­town Atlanta. The Dragon*Con Parade starts at 10:00am Sat­ur­day morn­ing in Woodruff Park.

3) U.S. 10K Clas­sic, Fam­ily Fes­ti­val and Kid’s Clas­sic Races US10KCLASSIC
The U.S. 10K Clas­sic is the cul­mi­na­tion of fun activ­i­ties tak­ing place this Labor Day Week­end. The Fam­ily Fes­ti­val gets under­way Sat­ur­day 10:00am at Gal­le­ria Gar­dens next to the Gal­le­ria Com­plex. The free fes­ti­val includes an artist’s mar­ket, a huge inter­ac­tive kids’ area, free sam­ples, fit­ness equip­ment and inter­ac­tive displays.

Kid’s Clas­sic Races con­sist of .5 (ages 6 and under) and 1 (ages 7–11) mile races com­menc­ing at 11:00am on Sat­ur­day Sept. 5, 2009. Labor Day fea­tures a plethora of races includ­ing the Men’s 100K Cycling Sprint, Women’s 10K Cycling Sprint and fin­ishes with the U.S. 10K Clas­sic. 4) Atlanta Braves verse Cincin­natti Reds at Turner Field atlabraves09
It’s a great time of year to take the fam­ily to see Chip­per Jones, Brain McCann and the rest of the Atlanta Braves as they bat­tle for a spot in the play­offs. While at Turner Field don’t for­get to check out Scout’s Alley (located under the left field stands) where the kids can play inter­ac­tive games. Another fun place to visit is the Atlanta Braves Museum and Hall of Fame located near aisle 134. Games sched­uled between the Atlanta Braves and Cincin­natti Reds are Fri­day 7:35pm, Sat­ur­day 7:10pm, and Sun­day 1:35pm.

 5) Art in the Park at His­toric Mari­etta Square Art in the Park
Take a stroll back in time when Down­town Mari­etta was the heart and soul of the ante­bel­lum south. The Art in the Park fes­ti­val in Mari­etta, Geor­gia con­sists of artists who travel from all over the United States to show­case their artis­tic endeav­ors. Artist’s works fea­ture paint­ings, graph­ics, sculp­tures, jew­elry, pho­tog­ra­phy, pot­tery, and much more. Visit the extra­or­di­nary stores and bou­tiques that envelop Mari­etta Square or dis­cover the won­der­ful archi­tec­ture while walk­ing through the shaded streets of five reg­is­tered his­toric dis­tricts. Halloween Activities for 2009 in Atlanta

Hal­loween activ­i­ties in Atlanta are every­where as the hol­i­day sea­son gets under­way. There are so many inter­est­ing things to do in Atlanta from fam­ily Hal­loween activ­i­ties that fea­ture hayrides and pump­kin patches, to haunted houses and cos­tume parties.

An excel­lent way to get in the spirit of Hal­loween for kids, is to expe­ri­ence the Hal­loween fes­ti­vals around Atlanta. These events often include Hal­loween games, dec­o­ra­tions, cos­tumes, story telling, trick or treats and other Hal­loween activ­i­ties for kids and toddlers.

Hal­loween Trick or treats in Atlanta isn’t just for kids any­more. Teenagers may opt for a haunted house, a scary movie, Fright Fest, or Sta­dium of Screams. Adult Hal­loween fun in Atlanta is never far behind. Expect to see cos­tume bashes all over the city this Hal­loween Week­end since it falls on a Friday.

Pump­kin Fes­ti­val at Stone Moun­tain Park

The 7th Annual Pump­kin Fes­ti­val is a fab­u­lous way for kids to get in the Hal­loween spirit. There’s enough enter­tain­ment in Stone Moun­tain Park to keep fam­i­lies busy all week­end. Don’t miss the Pump­kin Tum­bler or the Great Pump­kin Pup­pet Parade. The Pump­kin Tum­bler is a new activ­ity where you hop in a pump­kin tum­bler and stum­ble your way through an inflat­able obsta­cle course.

There are plenty of Hal­loween games for kids such as the Trick or Treat Scav­enger Hunt, sto­ry­telling, pie eat­ing con­tests and the children’s cos­tume con­test where kids par­tic­i­pate in the Great Pump­kin Pup­pet Parade. The Pump­kin Fes­ti­val goes on week­ends through­out October.

Scare­crows in the Gar­den & Gob­lins in the Garden

Another favorite Atlanta Event in Octo­ber is the annual Scare­crows in the Gar­den. Indi­vid­u­als, orga­ni­za­tions and busi­nesses all par­take in the mak­ing of scare­crows that are dis­played all over the park along with delight­ful fall dec­o­ra­tions. Get feisty Thurs­day evenings in Octo­ber at the Fest-of-Ale, fea­tur­ing a fine selec­tion of brews empha­siz­ing the Hal­loween theme.

Bring your flash­light and view the scare­crows while drink­ing some spir­its and lis­ten­ing to live music. The final event for the month long Scare­crows in the Gar­den venue is the Gob­lins in the Gar­den. This is a chil­drens cos­tume party and parade. Chil­dren are invited to dress in their favorite Hal­loween cos­tumes and have fun in the gar­den. Chil­drens activ­i­ties include story time, Ride-On-The-Train, and pony rides.
